NOTICE: If you made a credit card purchase at the Parkway Prime restaurant, located at 401 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY between February 16, 2017 and May 20, 2020, and have received a NOTICE OF DATA BREACH from Merani Hospitality, Inc., contact the Arnold Law Firm at (916) 777-7777.
On May 14, 2020, Merani Hospitality, Inc., (Merani) discovered that an unauthorized third party placed malignant computer code on the payment processing system used at the Parkway Prime Steakhouse & Lounge (Parkway Prime), located at 401 Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls, New York.
The data intrusion was designed to scrape customer information during credit card transactions at the restaurant, beginning February 16, 2017. The code was not removed until more than three years later on May 20, 2020.
Possible exposed personal information includes:
Parkway Prime is located at the DoubleTree by Niagara Falls on the edge of the Niagara River. The restaurant is part of Merani, an independent hotel and hospitality company focused on the Niagara Frontier Region. The company has a total workforce of 350 employees with annual revenues of an estimated $20 million.
Merani removed the code from its systems by May 20, 2020 and reportedly took additional technical precautions to prevent this type of security incident from occurring in the future. Merani notified known affected customers on July 13, 2020 and is encouraging individuals to monitor for fraud and identify theft.
