On December 16, 2021, several affiliated websites announced that they experienced a data breach where an unauthorized third party gained access to client payment card data. The websites include Tackle Warehouse, Running Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse, and Skate Warehouse. The affiliated websites first learned of the breach on October 15th but waited almost two months to notify individuals of the breach. Data from these websites may have been stolen as early as October 1, 2021.
The following information was affected:
This information is called your Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”). It tells others about you and is considered part of your identity. Businesses are required to secure this information or risk facing statutory penalties, among other legal penalties. Stolen PII can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity.
No free identity protection services are being offered at this time. The best way to protect yourself after a data breach is to sign up for identity protection services as soon as possible. California offers extra protections and legal rights to its residents through the California Consumer Privacy Act.
